United Way Invites Volunteers and Area Agencies
To Sign up for Day of Caring, Saturday, September 24th
Bank of America Sponsors Local Annual Event
United Way of Indian River County invites both volunteers from local businesses and social service agencies to sign up for its annual Day of Caring, Saturday, September 24th. Volunteers from area business head out in teams to help local health and human service agencies with much needed painting, fixing, and yard work. The United Way Day of Caring is a national event, put on every year by over 1300 United Ways around the country. In Indian River County, “it’s the one time a year that employees can lend their muscle to help an agency in need,” says United Way CEO Michael Kint. “Matching volunteers with community service is what we do best,” agrees United Way Day of Caring Co-Coordinator Doris Butler. “These employees will visit agencies, roll up their sleeves and make a real difference. It is a day of hard work and great reward.” Projects range from washing and waxing emergency vehicles to assembling Hurricane Preparedness Kits with the children of Youth Guidance.
In the past five years, more than 1000 volunteers, from more than 51 businesses, contributed their time to complete 60 projects at nonprofit agencies throughout Indian River County.
