25th Day of Caring Anniversary- October 5, 2019

 

More than 1,200 local volunteers helped with over 60 community service projects at nonprofits, schools, and churches during United Way’s 25th Annual Day of Caring, presented by Publix Super Markets.

Each June, communities around the world come together to harness the volunteer spirit and improve the conditions in which they live. UWIRC joined local United Ways across the nation, engaging thousands of volunteers in community service projects throughout Indian River County.

In the Indian River County, participants contributed more than $122,471 in volunteer hours to more than sixty local nonprofits. Some Day of Caring projects included:
 

  • Assisting Habitat for Humanity build a new home for a local family
  • Coloring and creating sympathy, birthday, and get well soon cards with VNA
  • Beautifying and improving the sensory garden at Pelican Island Elementary
  • Organizing and cleaning at the Environmental Learning Center

 

Day of Caring’s presenting sponsor is Publix Super Markets. From sponsorhships to volunteers, Publix continues work with United Way to ensure that Indian River County is a better place for all.
