Families in Indian River County Need Volunteers Just Like You To Help out at Tax Time!
With only a few hours a week you can make a positive impact in the lives of struggling families
WHAT: The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) Offers free tax services to individuals and families with low to moderate incomes.
WHY: Countless taxpayers could be receiving Earned Income Tax Credits and/or Child Tax Credits if they had assistance filing their returns.
HOW: Volunteers receive free IRS training and certification, then join the VITA team to prepare tax returns for clients at various VITA sites in the community.
WHEN: Training will be held January 11th - 13th, 2018 at United Way of Indian River County. Volunteers are asked to commit to 4-8 hours a week from end of January through April at local VITA sites.
WHO: Volunteers of all backgrounds are welcome, but Spanish/English bilingual preparers, retirees, students and those with financial backgrounds are highly encouraged to participate. CE credits will be available for eligible participants.
